Welcome to Cirencester Golf Club Seniors Section we welcome gentlemen over the age of 55, there are roll-ups on a Monday and Wednesday morning excluding days which are Bank Holidays or have internal Senior Competitions planned. A draw for partners takes place at 08:10 in the summer and 08:25 in the winter, but most Seniors arrive earlier for a relaxed chat and a coffee.
Once a month we have official Stableford or Medal competitions with the starting list being posted on the Seniors notice board about a month in advance. In addition to this we have a number of fun social competitions run throughout the year again with starting lists being posted on the Senior notice board about a month in advance.
From March through to September we have 38 matches against other clubs as well as internal matches against Club Captain, Club President, Ladies and Juniors most of which involve dinner afterwards. Selection for these teams is by putting your name down on the match lists which are posted on the Senior match board a month or so prior to the match.
Senior members are very sociable and some have had very interesting lives, jobs etc. We celebrate members birthdays at 80 and 90 with a cut down version of "This is Your Life" and the variety of backgrounds, careers and life experiences can be quite enthralling.
We have a lunch with wives/partners in November, a Three Club Competition followed by Christmas Lunch in December and a men only Annual Dinner in March.

Seniors Texas Scramble 18th January 2017
An enormous field of 81 players entered the Seniors Texas Scramble on 18th January showing how popular these events are with the club members. With such a large field it was inevitable that there would be some good scores but the event was won with an outstanding score of 63 points gross, 54.2 net, by Mark Woodhead, Graham Morgan and Robin Johnson. This team had 7 birdies on the front 9 holes alone and only dropped one shot in the whole round on the 10th hole. Second place was occupied by Mike Moore, Joe Hickey and Phil Needham with a net score of 58 and 3rd place was taken by David Clark, Godfrey Cottrell and Dave Walters with 58.4 net.
Seniors Stableford 6th February 2017
The cold foggy & frosty morning did not deter 85 seniors entering the February Stableford competition at Cirencester Golf Club on Monday 6th February. Due to the frozen course the event had to be classified as non-qualifying but this did not influence the instincts of the competitors with many excellent scores being returned in the tricky conditions. Division 1 was won by Nigel Curtiss who scored 40 points, followed by Graham Marshall and Mark Woodhead both with 38 points whilst in Division 2 David Braithwaite took the top position with 40 points followed by Brian Hammond with the same score being separated on countback ahead by just one point of Paul Horrell.
