Welcome to Cirencester Golf Club Seniors Section we welcome gentlemen over the age of 55, there are roll-ups on a Monday and Wednesday morning excluding days which are Bank Holidays or have internal Senior Competitions planned. A draw for partners takes place at 08:10 in the summer and 08:25 in the winter, but most Seniors arrive earlier for a relaxed chat and a coffee.
Once a month we have official Stableford or Medal competitions with the starting list being posted on the Seniors notice board about a month in advance. In addition to this we have a number of fun social competitions run throughout the year again with starting lists being posted on the Senior notice board about a month in advance.
From March through to September we have 38 matches against other clubs as well as internal matches against Club Captain, Club President, Ladies and Juniors most of which involve dinner afterwards. Selection for these teams is by putting your name down on the match lists which are posted on the Senior match board a month or so prior to the match.
Senior members are very sociable and some have had very interesting lives, jobs etc. We celebrate members birthdays at 80 and 90 with a cut down version of "This is Your Life" and the variety of backgrounds, careers and life experiences can be quite enthralling.
We have a lunch with wives/partners in November, a Three Club Competition followed by Christmas Lunch in December and a men only Annual Dinner in March.

Cirencester GC Seniors match v The Worcestershire- 3.5 -3.5 with one match abandoned
Unusually this year the weather actually was not too bad for the match against The Worcestershire GC, the course was in fine condition and all players appeared to be pumped up ready for action.
Unfortunately Cirencester's Seniors Captain had tweaked his back so handed the mantle to the Vice Captain. However, about halfway through the match, information passed to various people as to one of the Worcestershire players had had a stroke on the first green. An ambulance was soon on the scene, and he was taken off to Gloucester hospital and later transferred to Southmead, Bristol. The latest information we have is he is slowly recovering.
This clearly upset quite a few players the two Captains agreed on a Halved match irrespective of the actual results in the end.As fate would have it the actual result was a HALF! secured by the following results:-
A half was gained by Mike Staples and Ian Hunter with wins by John Parsons and Mark Woodhead, James Gore and David Braithwaite, David Lowbridge and Graham Morgan.
Seniors Guest Day –Cirencester Golf Club
